My First Keratin Treatment!

Ever since I grew my edges back, I wanted to try a keratin treatment.

They’re pretty popular now, and with good reason.

Keratin treatments are designed to repair and revitalize weak, damaged, and brittle hair. It restores moisture and diminishes frizzy tresses. Though each keratin product line has varying steps in its process, the outcome is generally the same. The client has shiny, tamed, and stronger hair.

My first treatment went pretty well! I forgot the name of the product line we used, but I think it was an express process based on when the stylist applied the product to my hair and the amount of time it’s supposed to last. She applied the treatment to my hair when it was damp and it’s supposed to last for eight weeks.

(I’m supposed to perform the same process on her in the next couple of weeks, so I’ll let y’all know how that goes!)

For some product lines, or specific treatment regimens in the same line, you’re supposed to apply the product to dry hair and those treatments tend to last up to five months — but it really depends on your hair. Like skin, everybody’s hair reacts differently to certain products. You’ll never have the same results as someone else.

That said, I love how it turned out on me!

It’s been a couple of days now and my hair still feels great. It’s bouncy and has a lot of body. I got a trim (as you can see in the featured photo) and it’s still in precision. I’m noticing less breakage when I comb through it. And it’s really making my natural hair color pop!

I’ll post an update at the eight-week mark.
