How to Build and Maintain Motivation

How to fuel your objectives

We know we need motivation and it is really important to get us started, but how many times have we left projects halfway? How many times have we given up because that motivation dried?

If you found yourself in these situations, then this framework could help you.

Start by asking yourself these questions

Do we have something that we want to accomplish so badly that we can forgo going out with friends? Is there something that burns us from the inside whenever we think about it? A problem we want to solve no matter what? Or something we just want to have

We have to find the thing that can make us move. It can be anything and there is no right or wrong answer, it just has to be your answer.

Find anything that can give you a direction. But make sure that it is something that you yourself want and don’t worry while the process is painful and long, I can say that for me, it was worth it.

Once you know why you are doing it, the next step is to understand how. Find ways to accomplish it that would give you the chance to learn something you wanted to learn or that can take you through a path that you wanted to explore

Connect your interests and what you want to do. By doing this you will be able to take the first step to getting started on your very own path. Use motivation to build momentum, and use enjoyment to maintain momentum

In my case, this meant going into research at the time. I found out that what I really enjoy is just learning and that I always wanted to learn about everything, mainly biology, physics and human behaviour, so I chose to go into biophysics.
