Mutual funds typically charge a 5% upfront fee on the initial investment, then 3% management fees every year and sometimes an exit fee regardless of profit or loss. ETFs are an alternative to mutual funds, they track the performance of the market, passively, whatever the market index does the ETF replicates. Investors pay broker fees for each trade. Given the lower fees, typically 0.5% every year, ETFs can be an attractive solution to investors. However, with all these solutions, there’s limited to no follow-up after the investment is made.
