Malicious Truth

I am writing this in response to an ongoing debacle involving a facebook account and claims of transphobia.

The highlighted bit of text represents something that I think many could forgive as the language around people who menstruate and give birth is changing and had Lob simply said, “I respect that this is outdated language and I will work to do better in the future, but please give me some leeway and respect that I am trying to address coercion towards a vulnerable population.” Here we see her do just that….

Oh wait, no never mind, she doubles down with a false equivalency. I assume this is some sort of, “AHA GOTCHA” moment, but it really does show a lack of understanding on a number of topics. Yes at some point in history there have been slaves who were inevitably trans and we can broadly speak of enslaved people without gender or genitals coming up at all and there are no incorrect facts stated. Making the claim that, “only women” can get pregnant however is factually wrong on many levels. To quote the Scientific American,
